Deloitte Ignite festival to return this year
28/07/2010 13:03:45
The award-winning Deloitte Ignite contemporary arts festival will return to the Royal Opera House this year for its third edition.
Due to run from September 3rd to 5th, the event is being curated by renowned pianist and composer Joanna MacGregor.
She took inspiration from forests, which serve as a place of "quiet, reflective beauty" and as the setting for fairytale narratives.
Artists have been invited to create forests within the Royal Opera House from a range of materials, including wood, old costumes and mannequins.
West End visitors can explore the unique spaces and see a range of films, music and dance performances, as well as displays that foreshadow the Royal Opera's forthcoming season and reference Covent Garden's old flower market.
Highlights to look out for include special performances by Phoenix Dance Theatre and the London premiere of Alex Roth's Earthrise, which will be sung by the Ex Cathedra choir to Japanese music.
