08/09/2010 11:19:12
People looking for some entertainment in the West End can pay a visit to the Donmar Warehouse at Seven Dials to see the Stephen Sondheim musical Passion.
The show, which features music and lyrics by Sondheim and is based on a book by James Lapine, will run from September 10th to November 27th.
At the heart of the story is Captain Giorgio Bachetti, a military hero who is forced to leave his beloved Clara when he is transferred to a remote Italian outpost.
His life is changed forever when he meets Fosca, the cousin of his commanding officer.
The Donmar describes Passion as a "haunting" tale of "desire, sacrifice and redemption".
It will be performed in the West End by a cast including Scarlett Strallen, Elena Roger and Simon Bailey.
The production is part of a celebration of Sondheim's 80th birthday at the Donmar, which will also include concert performances of Merrily We Roll Along and Company at the Queen's Theatre.
