11/03/2010 13:15:03
Visitors to the West End of London next month will be among those who are able to join in a classical music celebration of England's patron saint.
On April 25th the iconic Royal Albert Hall will play host to a number of performances to celebrate England's national day.
Highlights of the show, which is to be presented by former journalist and Strictly Come Dancing contestant John Sergeant, include readings from Henry V as well as poems by Betjeman and Wordsworth.
Acclaimed soprano Claire Moore is expected to perform alongside the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and the Royal Choral Society.
Performances are set to include a selection of well-known pieces including the Hallelujah chorus from Handel's Messiah, Rule Britannia and Elgar's Nimrod from Enigma Variations.
The special West End event will also treat the audience to renditions of Coates' The Dam Busters March, Land of Hope and Glory and White Cliffs of Dover.
