Mapping Our World

When the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) was founded in 1830, one of its aims was to compile ‘a complete collection of maps and charts from the earliest periods of rude geographical delineations to the most improved of the present time’.

To support the Societies aims charts were provided by British mapping authorities, as well as additional international support provided by foreign governments such as those of Holland, France and Germany.

Mapping our world at The National Geographic Store is an exhibition of 40 historical photographs from the collection of the Royal Geographic Society.
